Seaside Villa

This New Jersey villa reimagines a 1970s coastal home through a distinctly Italianate lens, balancing architectural rigor with expressive interiors. The original structure – defined by Victorian-era detailing, generous moldings, and carved woodwork – was thoughtfully preserved and clarified, allowing the home’s proportions and circulation to guide the design. New architectural elements draw from Sicilian precedents: textured plaster walls, refined stonework, and reshaped openings that introduce softness and natural light. Contemporary furnishings, sculptural lighting, and ceramics sourced from Italy and Mexico build upon this foundation, creating a dialogue between tradition and modernity. The clients’ collected pieces, combined with custom elements, bring a sense of character and evolution to the home. The result is a coastal villa that honors its historic roots while embracing a bold, worldly sensibility – both grounded in place and refreshed for a new chapter.
