We re-formatted this 1840’s farmhouse in Sonoma County, taking advantage of its rambling form to create purposeful indoor and outdoor spaces that better serve and augment family gathering spaces and the large new lap-length pool. Flat ceilings were vaulted where possible to create larger volumes in relatively small spaces, reclaimed and durable materials were utilized to speak to the home’s past as a working farm-family residence, and playful details were subtly applied and maintained to keep the existing character of the house intact while bringing it functionally into our modern era.
